Speedo Surfrunner offers Best of Both Worlds September 2, 2009 Roland Escher (Washington, DC USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Speedo Surfrunner swim shorts offer the best of both worlds -- After moving to a place where we hit the beach several times a week, I was looking to replace my beloved Quicksilver water shorts. The Surfrunners are exactly what I was looking for. The Surfrunners offer more coverage than briefs or a "square leg" design. Yet they are not as tight-fitting. They are also significantly shorter than surf trunks. So you will not get a tan line below your knee. And the Surfrunners won't stick to your thighs like a wet rag when you get out of the water. In addition to the Striped Surfrunner (Speedo Men's Fashion Polyester Taslan Solid Striped Surf Runner Volley 14" Outseam Watershort Swimsuit), there is also a Solid Surfrunner version (Speedo Men's Fashion Polyester Taslan Solid Surf Runner Volley 14" Outseam Watershort Swimsuit). Now that I have confirmed the good fit with one pair, I expect to get several more to rotate.
Some potential drawbacks of these swim shorts: The fabric is on the rough side, not silky smooth like a rashguard. And other than an internal key pocket, there are no outside pockets at all. In my mind, though, that is an advantage. Pockets catch sand at the beach, and make shorts look more baggy -- two things that I don't like and will avoid with these shorts.
Bottom line: The Speedo Surfrunner swim shorts are perfect if you are looking for the best of both worlds. More coverage than briefs, with similar freedom of movement. And unlike surf trunks, no clumsy, sticky, long legs.
For those who hate long baggy swimsuits May 9, 2009 J. Devine (Boston, MA) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
The trend for most suits now having the length below the knee and really baggy. If you're like me and don't like that trend, this is the suit for you. Loose enough for comfort, you don't have a damp clammy suit covering you legs after you swim. Speedo, so well made and designed. Waterproof bag in pocket is a plus.
Light and comfortable August 26, 2009 Alfred E. Guy Jr. (New York, NY USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I didn't know what Taslan was and I worried that the word "volley" meant they wouldn't really be swim trunks. I suppose I'm ignorant! But these are fantastic. They're comfortable and super light and they fit well. And it's crazy (in a good way) that you can get these through Amazon with their free shipping (in my case, Prime) and their reliable customer service. Anyway, these are great trunks.
nice March 2, 2010 Kristene L. Walker (FL) bought them for my boyfriend who is abean pole skinny legs they fit well not to baggy noy to tight he like them and they look good on him
Great multi-purpose swimsuit April 25, 2010 Allen Rue (Philadelphia, PA United States) I am a 33 year male new to the world of swimming and I am very happy with my medium sized black pair of the Speedo Taslan Solid Striped swimsuit. I can jog in them without chaffing. I can bike 10 miles in them in comfort. After I finish with them in the pool, they dry quickly. They snag up a bit when I do lunge-like stretches in them. However, everybody has different leg thickness and I am glad they are not too baggy. I would highly recommend this swimsuit to potential triathletes like myself.
